The main idea of “UniversaLove” is unlimited universal love which fills in every atom. The music material of the disc includes ethnic motives in African style, experiments with complex times 7/8 and 11/8 in John McLauphlin style, beautiful ballades about the eternal, flamboyant Latino joy, and all this is in jazz fusion format.
Album reviewDespite lack of pops, despite complex times and harmonies the album is tuneful and rhythmically diverse, is listened easily, it is not abstruse and doesn’t demand from the listeners special lead-up. Each musical piece is a completed image that occurs in the listener’s mind. In other words, music of “UniversaLove” is suitable for creation of visual series; its musical base can be a part of images created in cinema, theater, animation, and in different performances.
In “UniversaLove” Felix Lahuti simultaneously acted as a 5-string electric violin player, a composer, an arranger and a musical producer. Also the following brilliant musicians took part (as authors and performers) in the album recording: the saxophonist Alexey Kozlov and his band “Arsenal”, the pianist Daniil Kramer, the guitarist Alexey Kuznetsov, the saxophonist Anna Koroleva, the percussion player Vartan Babayan, the drummer Piotr Ivshin, Alex Rostotsky on synthesizers, the vibraphonist Vladimir Goloukhov, Kamal Shazhri, a player on the Moroccan contrabass and castanets, the pianist and keyboardist Alexey Samarin, the guitarist Alexander Staroverov, the bass guitarist Roman Grinev, and the contrabassist Denis Shushkov. The sound production of the album is a result of efforts of the big team of masters headed by the famous sound producer Anatoly Machulenko.
The design of the album deserves special attention being remarkably harmonious and colorful continuation of the audio series.
