A debut album of a young, but rather famous in musical world, Moscow prog-rock/fusion team. The group is notable for their sound that is rare for the genre and mature, distinct composition thinking.
Album reviewThe violin in jazz and in progressive rock is a very rare instrument, and even more so, violin as a leading instrument. If we recall groups where it plays a solo part we can name only UK, Deadweight and David Cross’ projects. That’s why the group Ascorbic Acid, whose disk...
...was released under “ArtBeat Music” label, is a unique phenomenon not only on Russian but on the world scene. Especially that the trio (electric violin, bass guitar and drums) of young musicians has recorded very interesting and distinctive album – not a kind of “fancy” music young groups tend to write but music full of different emotions. Wherein it is difficult to recognize violin in the solo instrument (one more “feature” of the record): sometimes it sounds like an electric guitar (“Icarus” piece), sometimes like an outlandish folk instrument (“Japanese Sunrise”), and only in “Castle” it sounds like a violin. And, of course, the album attracts our attention because everything in it works for music, all the successful timbres, right effects underlines the music. So, big thanks to the group for the interesting and original work and to “ArtBeat Music” for the release of this, without exaggeration, musical gem”.
