Album review“This album is a kind of opposite to the album “Reconciliation”. The author of the music is the same – Alexey Kozlov, but the performers are different (if it is “Arsenal”, then of different line-ups: during almost 40 years of the team’s history not one generation of performers has changed, each change meant transition to a new style). Part of the tracks of the double album was...
... performed and recorded by the author – using modern computer and multimedia technologies he played parts of all instruments. When listening to the album we may submerge not only into the history of creative activity of Maestro but into the history of our musical culture, literature and philosophy, understand what factors formed personal traits of the Soviet creative intelligentsia.”
From “ArtBeatMusic” press release to the album “Dedications”
“One of the most problematic traits of my character beginning childhood was that I really soon lost interest for every activity, I switched to something else and I could do nothing with it. Later, when I had grown up, it had impact on my love to jazz styles in which I played. Every time when I changed a style I had to master new harmonic principles, new techniques of saxophone playing, usually I lost part of my fans and increased number of opponents who accused me in betraying traditional jazz. With time I got used to it and stopped paying attention to critics. But with each change I acquired new fans and then followers. And my archive contains materials illustrating my stylistic and ideological turns. It is rather fully reflected in the current album.”
